DARE
In Manalapan the local law enforcement and local schools join together to educate students about the personal and social consequences of substance abuse and violence. In Manalapan we focus on the fourth grade students receiving four classes (one class a week for a month) and the core curriculum in the sixth grade (one class a week for 12-14 weeks). If the DARE Officer is not teaching a class he/she is interacting with the students and staff in the lunch room, gym, hallways or as stsudents are entering/exiting the school.
The DARE program works hand-in-hand with the local schools, parents and community will provide leadership skills and education. It also gives the community an opportunity to get to know our police officers and makes the avenues of communication easier.

DARE Leadership Camp is a five-day camp held in July at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, NJ. The event is sponsored by DARE New Jersey and the Manalapan Township DARE Officer(s) act as advisors. The DARE Officer also has the opportunitiy to elect a student from our Township to attend. This overnight camp experience is for children who have graduated the core curriculum and who are entering the 7th grade. Children are chosen based on their leadership skills and actions demonstrating role model skills for their peers. The camp is sponsored by DARE New Jersey.
Mother-Son Date Night is a fun night where mothers and sons dance the night away at Battleground Country Club located in Manalapan. The Dance includes a sit down dinner, entertainment by the amazing employees at Jeffery Craig/Pure Eergy Entertainment, a complimentary photograph of each couple and handouts. We also have a guest appearance by Daren the DARE Lion. (Fundraiser)
